The Ukrainian Youth Club was a newly founded organization for teenagers who were forced to flee from Ukraine. During the project period from March to June 2022 the UYC has been a place for integration, learning and connecting – a space for positive memories in a new environment.

Together with Erik Freydank, we were invited to contribute a lecture. Using Augmented Reality as the main technology we designed a workshop format in which a group of 25 teenagers could create digital buddies before bringing them into the real world through AR.

From Sketch to 3D – After a short introduction the kids from UYC sketched their own creatures on paper. In the next two sessions they modeled them in 3D, drew custom textures & even animated their digital buddies. In the end individual QR-Codes were printed out to share and access the AR-Experience.
