Protect Democracy is a sculptural work that highlights the fragility and resilience of democratic values in times of growing societal tension.

At its center lies a martial arts mouthguard embossed with the german word "Demokratie", encased in a transparent plexiglass box. The presentation evokes the aesthetic of emergency fire extinguishers: visible and within reach, yet shielded by a barrier.

The work frames democracy as a system under constant stress and caught between transparency and paralysis, visibility and restricted access. The mouthguard alludes to both self-protection and readiness for action: democracy requires more than observation; it demands active defense.

Protect Democracy asks: How resilient is our democracy when access to its means of protection is obstructed by physical and psychological barriers? And are we truly prepared; not just to watch, but to intervene when it matters most?
